Street Angel Program

SF Revival is beginning a new and ambitious social project that will connect members of the general public with individual homeless clients. Each party will volunteer to relate with each other and respect each other's boundries, but then there will be a new level of communication to help in a significant way. There will be a team of volunteers for each client, so the team can communicate with each other to help certain needs that may be more than one person can handle alone.

Each volunteer will decide their own level of involvement, from as little as agreeing to say "Hi" and follow up with the client on a regular basis, and upwards from there. Teams will also have SF Revival staff and other expert advocates available to assist.

The primary goal or Street Angels is to connect members of the public who are helping a person in need, so they can work together in communication with professional service providers, in order to further the health and well-being of the person in need.

People can work better and more efficiently together, in a team, rather than alone. Homeless clients already have regulars helping them, but those regulars are not in contact with each other, and they should be. It is also likely that the form of help is periodic money, food, or goods, and not guided by professional service providers who can offer more substantial, permanent aid and change.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Angel Volunteers - members of the public who are in contact with potential homeless clients, and want to network with other AVs who are helping or wanting to help that same client.

Homeless Clients - are recruited by AVs, or are recruited by SF Revival to organize their regulars (members of the public who are helping them), so they may become AVs networked together.

Professional Service Providers - when the AVs and Client discuss a needs assessment for the client (shelther, employment, medical care), AVs and SFRM determine an appropriate PSP to work with to come up with an action plan.

Please read our statement of responsibitities of the parties for more information.

Teams are now forming. Contact SF Revival if you are interested in being part of this exciting new project!

The Street Angel Project is also listed on Facebook as an activity group. Search for "Street Angel" for more information and join if you are active on Facebook.
